Awareness & Acceptance

April is recognized globally as Autism Awareness and Acceptance Month, devoted to enhancing understanding and fostering acceptance of individuals on the autism spectrum. This month serves as a significant platform to illuminate the experiences, challenges, and strengths of the Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) community. This month also invites meaningful discussions about the most appropriate symbols, colors, and language that can effectively represent the diverse and multifaceted autism community.
ACES has chosen to integrate the puzzle piece into our logos, recognizing it as a widely acknowledged symbol of autism and emphasizing its positive aspects:
The puzzle pattern reflects the complexity of autism!
The variety of colors highlights the amazing diversity of people on the spectrum.
The interconnected pieces represent our hope that collectively we can build a society that acknowledges the challenges faced by individuals with autism, while also celebrating their contributions and potential, ensuring that everyone has the chance to succeed.
During Autism Awareness and Acceptance Month we ask you to join us in promoting acceptance, support, and inclusion in every aspect of life. By working together, we can greatly impact the lives of those affected by autism and create a community that honors each person and encourages understanding.
Big News!!! Thanks to the generous support from our Spring 2025 fundraisers, we are pleased to be in a position to continue our partnership with Social Skills Today and Spectrum Autism Support Group as they gear up for their exciting week-long overnight camp this summer. Camp Journey is Spectrum's camp dedicated to enhancing social skills, fostering friendships, teamwork, manners, and self-esteem. The camp offers directed social skills instruction in a typical overnight camp environment. Campers enjoy daily hot meals, air-conditioned cabins, and a variety of standard overnight camp activities. Depending on the weather, activities may include swimming, hiking, fishing, archery, climbing, canoeing, sports, and more. This amazing program is available to individuals aged 9 and up through adulthood with moderate, mild, HFA/Asperger's Syndrome.
Check back with us next month for for exciting updates!
As always, we are thankful for your continued interest and support.
